Dietitian CV example with clinical and community sections

Lead with the protected title and the degree behind it, then split experience by setting: clinical nutrition, community programmes and food service. In Türkiye, Law 1219 gives the diyetisyen title to nutrition and dietetics bachelor's graduates.1

Check which title you may put under your name

Dietitian is a defined profession in all three systems below, and each defines it differently. The title line on your CV has to match the system you are applying in, not the one you trained in.

SystemWho holds the titleTitle line on the CV
TürkiyeGraduates of a bachelor's programme in nutrition and dietetics (Law 1219, supplementary article 13, clause Ç)Diyetisyen, BSc Nutrition and Dietetics, university and year
United KingdomPeople on the Health and Care Professions Council register; HCPC lists Dietitian and Dietician as protected titlesDietitian, HCPC registration number, or the stage of an application
United StatesRegistered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) after the CDR exam; many states also license dietitians (BLS)RDN, state licence and number where required

If your degree is in another field

Law 1219 defines the diyetisyen by the degree, so a graduate of a different programme with a nutrition certificate should describe the certificate, not borrow the title. The same caution applies in the UK, where HCPC says a person must be registered to use a protected title.

Sort your experience into three settings first

Türkiye's regulation on the job and duty descriptions of health professionals lists the dietitian's duties in one long paragraph. Read closely, they fall into three groups, and BLS uses the same split for the US: clinical, community and management (food service). Before writing any line, put each job you have had into one of the three.

SettingDuties named in the regulationBLS descriptionTypical CV line
ClinicalPlanning nutrition for patients on a physician's referral, using anthropometrics, lab results and treatment; preventing hospital malnutrition; oral, enteral and parenteral productsClinical dietitians provide medical nutrition therapy in hospitals, long-term care and clinicsCaseload per day, conditions, screening results
CommunityWorking on nutrition problems in the population; taking part in national, regional and local nutrition policy and action plansDevelop programmes and counsel the public, often for groups such as the elderlyProgramme, audience size, sessions, outcome
Food serviceMenu planning and auditing, food purchasing quantities, supervising and training kitchen staff, storage, hygiene and food safety systemsPlan food programmes, may handle purchasing and budgetingMeals a day, menus, audits, staff trained

One job, two settings

The Turkish duty list puts clinical and kitchen work in the same job, so one hospital post can cover both. Split the bullets under one job heading: three clinical lines, then one or two food-service lines. Mixing them in one list hides the clinical caseload.

Writing clinical lines a hiring dietitian can check

  1. Name the unit or clinic: oncology, nephrology, intensive care, paediatrics, diabetes outpatients.
  2. Give the daily or weekly caseload as a range.
  3. Name the screening or assessment routine you ran and how often.
  4. Name the feeding routes you managed: oral supplements, enteral, parenteral.
  5. Add one result with a number: screening coverage, length of stay, weight change, readmissions, if the unit measured it.
  6. Name the nutrient analysis software you used. O*NET lists programs such as Nutritionist Pro, FoodWorks and NutriBase for the occupation; write the one you actually used.

Show the referral chain

Law 1219 describes the Turkish dietitian as arranging nutrition programmes for patients on the referral of a physician, while setting programmes for healthy people directly. A line such as 'planned enteral feeding for ICU patients referred by the intensive care team' shows you work inside that rule.

Worked example: clinical dietitian moving to a university hospital

Example only. Deniz Aksoy, both hospitals and all figures are invented to show the form of each line. Write only results your unit recorded.

  • Planned enteral and parenteral feeding for 6 to 10 intensive care patients a day with the ICU team.
  • Rewrote 14 therapeutic diet menus with the kitchen manager and trained 9 kitchen staff on diet codes.

What the example leaves out

There is no profile paragraph about passion for nutrition and no list of diets the person likes. Every line is a task with a count, and every count could be checked against the hospital's own records.

Skills table for dietitian posts

Skill (source)Evidence line
Diagnosing, monitoring and recording (NCS)Weekly weight and intake review for every patient on enteral feeding
Evaluating laboratory tests for nutrition plans (O*NET)Adjusted protein and potassium targets for dialysis patients from monthly bloods
Counselling individuals and groups (O*NET)12 group sessions for newly diagnosed diabetes patients
Active listening, sensitivity and understanding (NCS)Built diet plans around religious fasting and cultural food preferences, a task O*NET lists
Menu planning and food safety (Turkish duty list)Audited 3 kitchens monthly against the hospital food safety checklist

The NCS profile also says dietitians manage a caseload and keep confidential clinical records. If you held your own caseload, say how many patients it had.

What the sources say, checked on 13 October 2026

  • National Careers Service dietitian profile: BDA-accredited degree, HCPC registration, enhanced background checks, skills and tasks.
  • HCPC, the professions it regulates: Dietitian and Dietician are protected titles.
  • Commission on Dietetic Registration: from 1 January 2024 a graduate degree is the minimum for the dietitian registration exam.

Registration rules change. Check the linked official page before you apply.

When this layout does not fit

  • Academic posts: lead with publications and teaching, then clinical work.
  • Food industry and quality roles: the food engineer guide covers HACCP and ISO 22000 lines.
  • Sports or private-practice work: list the client count and the kind of client, never names, and keep the referral rule in mind for patients.
  • Physiotherapists and other professions defined in the same article of Law 1219 have their own guides.

Working as a dietitian outside Türkiye

There is no country guide for dietitians yet, so the basics are here. For the UK, the NCS profile says you will need to register with the HCPC, and the degree route it describes is one accredited by the British Dietetic Association. For the US, CDR says that anyone establishing exam eligibility since 1 January 2024 needs at least a graduate degree, and all other study and supervised practice requirements stay the same. The degree recognition guide shows how to write the equivalence stage on a CV.

Next steps

  • Pull your caseload numbers from unit records before you write.
  • Match each setting's lines to the advert; the guide on tailoring a CV to a job description shows the method.
  • CitedCV writes a CV in English, Turkish or German from the facts you enter and checks numbers against them; it does not know dietetics rules, so the title line is yours to verify.

Questions people ask

How do I write a dietitian CV?

Start with the title and degree, then group experience by clinical, community and food-service work, each with caseload numbers. Close with software, certificates and languages.

What skills should a dietitian put on a resume?

Assessment and monitoring, interpreting lab results for nutrition plans, counselling, menu planning and food safety, and the nutrient analysis software you used. Prove each with a line.

What goes on a clinical dietitian resume?

The units you covered, patients assessed per day, screening routines, feeding routes such as enteral and parenteral, and one measured result per job.

Can I call myself a dietitian in the UK with a Turkish degree?

Not until you are on the HCPC register. HCPC says a protected title such as Dietitian may be used only by registered people.

Do I need a master's degree to become a registered dietitian in the US?

Yes, if you establish exam eligibility for the first time on or after 1 January 2024. CDR made a graduate degree the minimum from that date.

Should a new graduate dietitian list internships?

Yes, as a separate section with the setting, weeks and supervised tasks. Clinical, community and food-service placements map onto the three settings employers know.

How should I show private clients on a dietitian CV?

Give the number of clients, the kind of goal and the period, never names. For patients, show that you worked on a physician's referral where the law requires it.
