Marketing CV example: channels, budgets and campaign results

A marketing CV names the channels you ran, the budget you controlled and what each campaign changed, such as leads, sales or cost per result. Certifications from Google or Meta go in with their exact exam name and date.1

Build a campaign log before you open the template

Marketers forget their own numbers faster than anyone, because dashboards overwrite last quarter. Spend an hour reconstructing a log of the campaigns you touched in the last three years, one row each, from the ad accounts, analytics properties and email platform you still have access to. Screenshots you saved and launch emails help.

  1. Channel and platform: paid search on Google Ads, paid social on Meta, email in the CRM, organic search, events.
  2. Period and budget, even as a range if the exact figure is confidential.
  3. The objective the campaign was briefed with: leads, sales, sign-ups, reach.
  4. The result against that objective, with the number before and after.
  5. Where the figure came from (Google Analytics, the ad platform, the CRM), because platforms disagree.
  6. Your part: planned it, built it, wrote the copy, ran the budget, reported on it.

Most people end up with ten to twenty rows. The CV uses the best five or six; the rest feed the interview.

What marketing employers check

The National Careers Service describes the marketing executive's work as researching customers and markets, writing and editing content, organising events, managing budgets, tracking competitors and analysing data to plan and evaluate campaigns. Prospects splits digital marketing into search engine optimisation, pay-per-click advertising, email and social media, and expects return on investment reporting. O*NET's profile for marketing specialists lists Google Analytics, Google Ads, HubSpot, Salesforce and Tableau among the tools, and records 70 percent of respondents saying a bachelor's degree is required for new hires.

Generalist or channel specialist

A brand or product marketing post reads for positioning, launches and research. A performance post reads for spend, cost per acquisition and testing. If your experience covers both, decide per application which half goes first; the posting's first three requirements usually tell you.

Channel by channel: what the strong line contains

Say which number it is

Google Analytics, the ad platform and the CRM usually report different conversion counts for the same campaign. Pick one source per line and keep it consistent. When an interviewer asks where the 31 percent came from, "Meta Ads Manager, seven-day click" is a strong answer; "the dashboard" is not.

Ratios need their base

A 300 percent rise from 20 sign-ups to 80 is honest but small. Give the absolute numbers next to the percentage, or the reader will assume the base was tiny.

Example only. Mert Kaya is invented, as are the companies, budgets and results. Use figures from your own accounts.

Performance Marketing Specialist, an online furniture retailer, 2024 to present

  • Own paid search and paid social with a combined budget of about £35k a month across Google Ads and Meta.
  • Moved Shopping campaigns to a new product feed structure; return on ad spend rose from 3.1 to 4.4 over six months (Google Ads, purchase conversions).
  • Ran 22 creative tests on Meta in 2025 and kept the 5 winners; cost per purchase fell from £61 to £47.
  • Tools: Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, Google Analytics 4, Looker Studio, Shopify.

Marketing Executive, a B2B software company, 2021 to 2024

  • Planned and wrote the email nurture programme for trial users (8 emails); trial-to-paid conversion went from 9 to 12 percent.
  • Organised 4 webinars a quarter with product managers, averaging 210 registrations each.
  • Produced the monthly marketing report for the leadership team from HubSpot and Google Analytics data.

The two roles tell a story without a summary paragraph: content and email first, then budget ownership. Each bullet begins with the channel or the task, so a recruiter scanning for paid social or email finds it in the first words.

Google and Meta certifications, from their own pages

Google's Google Ads help centre names product-area certifications in Google Ads Search, Display, Video, Shopping ads and Apps, and says a certification stays valid for one year; renewing means retaking and passing the assessment. Skillshop, where the assessments sit, says it is free, that, depending on the assessment, a pass needs 80 percent or more, and that a failed attempt means waiting 24 hours. Google also lists professional certifications in Display, Search and Video that are virtually proctored and currently open to a limited audience.

Meta's certification page lists these exams, with codes and levels as shown on 13 October 2026:

Writing the certificate line

  • Google Ads Search certification, Google, passed March 2026. A date matters because the certificate expires after a year.
  • Meta Certified Media Buying Professional (exam 410-101), 2025.
  • Leave out a Google certification that has lapsed, or write the year it was held; do not call yourself certified after expiry.
  • UK readers also recognise CIM and IDM qualifications, which Prospects and the National Careers Service name for marketing.

Applying abroad

Campaign numbers travel well; currency and market do not. State the currency and the country of each budget, and say which languages you wrote copy in. There is no country guide for marketing roles alone; the UK and Germany format guides cover layout and personal details for those markets, and the language-levels guide shows how to state languages with CEFR levels.

Limits of this guide

  • Selling to customers with a quota is a different CV: the sales guide covers target lines.
  • Graphic design and portfolio layout are outside this page.
  • Agency account management mixes marketing and client service; use this page for the campaign lines and add client retention figures yourself.

What to do next

  1. Finish the campaign log and mark the source of every number.
  2. Pick the five or six rows that match the posting and turn each into one bullet that starts with the channel.
  3. Add a Tools line under each role.
  4. Check the date on every Google certification before you list it.
  5. Add a portfolio or case-study link if you have work you are allowed to show.

If you would rather not assemble it by hand, CitedCV writes the CV from the campaign facts you enter, in English, Turkish or German, and checks each figure in the text against the ones you supplied.

Questions people ask

What should I put on a marketing CV?

The channels you ran, the budget, results against each campaign objective with before and after numbers, your tools, certifications with dates, and a portfolio link if you have one.

How do I show campaign results on a CV?

One bullet per campaign: channel, action, metric before and after, period and the source of the figure, such as Google Ads or the CRM.

Should I put Google Ads certification on my resume?

Yes, if it is current. Google says the certification lasts one year, so write the month you passed and drop or date it once it lapses.

Are Meta certifications worth putting on a CV?

They are worth listing when the posting involves paid social. Write the full name and exam code, for example Media Buying Professional, 410-101.

How do I write a digital marketing CV with no experience?

Show a project with real numbers: a site you grew, a small ad budget you ran, a newsletter you built. Prospects suggests a blog or active profile as evidence.

Do I need a portfolio for a marketing job?

For content, social and design-heavy roles it helps a lot; Prospects advises an online portfolio. For performance roles, a short case study with numbers works as well.

What is the difference between a marketing executive and a marketing manager CV?

An executive CV proves execution per channel; a manager CV adds budget ownership, team size, planning and the decisions that changed results.
