Novoresume alternative: outgrowing the one-page Basic plan

A Novoresume alternative helps when Basic's limits bite, not the billing: Premium is paid once, but Basic allows one one-page resume, no cover letter and PDF only. FlowCV, Kickresume, Reactive Resume and CitedCV each lift a different limit.1

Novoresume's model, from its pricing page and terms

Novoresume is unusual among resume builders in one respect: its paid plan does not renew. If a surprise charge is your worry, it is already the alternative to most of its competitors. The reasons people move away from it are about what the free plan allows and the format you get. Here is what its own pages said on 13 October 2026.

ItemWhat Novoresume says
Basic (free)A single version, a resume of at most one page, predefined layouts, 3 fonts, 30 colour themes, no cover letter
PremiumMultiple versions, no watermark or branding, up to 10 pages, custom layout, a matching cover letter, 12 fonts, 74 colour themes, creative backgrounds and specialised sections
How you payA month, a quarter or a year, paid once; the page showed 23.99, 49.99 and 199.99 US dollars in one read and 21.99, 49.99 and 189.99 euros in another
RenewalNone: the FAQ says the pricing is not subscription based and you will not be charged automatically
RefundConsumers may cancel a purchase and claim a refund within 14 days from the day of purchase, by email with a cancellation form
File formatAll documents are saved as PDF
After Premium endsYour information stays saved in the account
Minimum ageUsers must be at least 18
Company and lawNovorésumé ApS, Copenhagen; terms governed by Danish and EU law

The part that is easy to miss

The pricing FAQ says most Premium features can be tried in a Basic account, but a document that uses them cannot be downloaded there. So if you pick a Premium font, a custom layout or a second page while on Basic, the CV looks finished on screen and still will not download until you pay or remove those features.

What Novoresume does better than most

Paying once for a defined period removes the most common complaint about resume builders, and the 14-day refund right in its terms is longer than some competitors offer. Premium has a wide set of design options, the account keeps your data after the period ends, and the company names Danish and EU law in its terms.

About its AI resume generator

Novoresume's AI resume generator reads a job posting you paste in and returns a complete resume for that role: summary, experience bullets and skills. Its own example fills the numbers with placeholders such as [X] and asks you to replace them with your real details. That is more honest than a draft with invented figures. The limit is that the bullets describe what the posting asks for, not what you did, so each line still has to be checked against your record.

Four alternatives, each lifting one Basic limit

Kickresume, for design range and students

Kickresume's pricing page says it is free as long as you do not choose paid customisation options, with unlimited downloads, four free resume templates and 40 more on Premium. It is free for students who prove their status with ISIC, ITIC or UNiDAYS, and it offers a 14-day money-back guarantee. Limit: the pricing page we read did not say whether paid plans renew automatically or which download formats you get, so check both before paying. Our Kickresume comparison covers its AI writer.

FlowCV, for a free cover letter

FlowCV includes one resume and one matching cover letter on its free plan, with unlimited PDF downloads, all templates and no watermark. Limit: unlike Novoresume, its Pro plan, billed yearly, renews automatically, and the pages we read name PDF as the only download.

Reactive Resume, for Word and several versions

Reactive Resume states that every feature is free with no paid tier: 17 templates, PDF and Word downloads, cover letters and a job tracker, with exports to Markdown and JSON as well. Limit: the design range is narrower than Novoresume Premium, and AI help requires your own key from an AI provider.

CitedCV, for an editable file built from your facts

CitedCV is our own product. It exports PDF, DOCX and TXT from all 8 templates and writes only from the facts you supply, with each line tied to the facts behind it. Like Novoresume, it does not renew: credits come in one-time packs, 30 for $9 or 150 for $29, and the credits do not expire. The difference is that you pay per action in credits rather than for a period of time. Limit: its templates are single column with much less visual choice than Novoresume Premium, and cover letters open only once you buy a credit pack.

Paying once versus a renewing plan

  • Novoresume: a fixed month, quarter or year, with no automatic renewal.
  • Kickresume: monthly, quarterly and yearly prices shown; the page we read does not say whether they renew.
  • FlowCV: Pro billed yearly, renewing automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.
  • Reactive Resume: nothing to pay, so nothing renews.
  • CitedCV: one-time credit packs, 30 credits for $9 or 150 for $29, paid once with no renewal; the credits do not expire.

Who should stay with Novoresume

  • Your CV fits on one page and you need one version: Basic is enough.
  • You want a designed CV with many fonts and colours and a PDF is acceptable everywhere you apply.
  • You want to pay once for a month or a quarter of full access rather than per action; CitedCV is also paid once with no renewal, but it charges credits per action.

Limits of this page

  • Novoresume facts come from its pricing page, terms of use and AI resume generator page, read on 13 October 2026. The pricing page showed different currencies and amounts in two reads the same day, so the price you see depends on where you are.
  • Facts about the other tools come from their own pages, read the same day; CitedCV facts come from its code.
  • We did not buy plans or test downloads. Where a page is silent, as Kickresume's was on renewal and formats, we say so.

Questions people ask

Is Novoresume free?

Yes, with limits. The Basic plan is free but allows one version of a resume of at most one page, with no cover letter. Premium adds versions, up to 10 pages and a matching cover letter.

Does Novoresume renew automatically?

No. Its pricing FAQ says the model is not subscription based and you will not be charged automatically. You buy a month, a quarter or a year.

Can I get a refund from Novoresume?

Yes, within 14 days. Its terms give consumers the right to cancel a purchase and claim a refund within 14 days from the day of purchase, by email.
